TiLV – The Global Aquaculture Threat Affecting Tilapia Production
Tilapia has been cultured in more than 45 countries and ranked as the second important cultured fish in the world.
Recently, the outbreak of Tilapia Lake Virus Disease (TiLVD) caused by Tilapia tilapinevirus or tilapia lake virus (TiLV) caused high morbidity and mortality in the wild and farmed tilapia in many countries.
Despite this growing interest in this virus, there is little knowledge that could lead to the sustainable management of the disease. In this webinar, the current knowledge of TiLVD, including the etiology, pathology, mode of transmission, immunological response, control and prevention will be covered. I will explain the future perspective, such as vaccine development for TiLV and the role of fish immunity during the infection.
